Step up for youth, equity, and community with Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston at our inaugural Walk for Health Equity—a citywide event committed to closing the life expectancy and wellness gaps facing too many of our neighborhoods. Together, we’ll walk two miles in solidarity, raising awareness and calling for action so that every young person—regardless of zip code—has the opportunity to lead a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.

We invite you to join us beginning at 10am at the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common for the Walk for Health Equity. Opening remarks will take place at 10:30am and the walk will begin at 11:00am.

Participants will walk along Tremont Street through the South End, continue down Shawmut Avenue, turn left onto Malcolm X Boulevard, and then turn right on Warren Street. The walk will conclude at the Yawkey Club of Roxbury with the Healthy Futures Fest.

OUR MISSION

Close Boston's life expectancy gap

In a city recognized globally for its world-class healthcare, the reality that Boston residents can face a 23-year gap in life expectancy based on their zip code is both staggering and unacceptable. The Walk for Health Equity, led by Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, brings together youth, families, partners, and community leaders to shine a spotlight on these deep health disparities—just two miles apart but worlds away.
 
Our mission is to mobilize collective action and elevate the voices of those most impacted, particularly in communities like Roxbury, Mattapan, Dorchester, East Boston, and Jamaica Plain, where systemic inequities continue to shorten lives. By walking together, we raise awareness, honor community resilience, and commit to building a future where every Bostonian—regardless of neighborhood—has the opportunity to live a full, healthy life.

Healthy Futures Fest

 

The Healthy Futures Fest, held at the Yawkey Club of Roxbury immediately following the Walk for Health Equity, will feature interactive activities, wellness resources, and opportunities for families and young people to connect with community organizations.

We are also excited to launch our new Edgerley Family Community Wellness Initiative at the Fest, committed to increasing participation in health-focused events and programming across Boston and Chelsea.
